The picture that you used of the window for the first one does a very good job at depicting the gloom of the scene itself. the picture that you used with the chains and the locks really depicts the way that slaves were treated. The redish tint to the picture makes it seem more erri, as if to have been tortured. Your eight picture of the staircase and andrew depicts teh quote in a very literally way. It makes you have a better image of the story and how it can be viewed.

I was very struck by the picture with all of the chains for two reasons. First of all, I can not conjure any instance in which that many locks and chains would ever be nessisary at HCH. Do we have anything that needs locking? Secondly, I like how the picture clearly conveys the message that Poe was trying to convey. Instead of using words to spread the ideas, the picture does the talking.

I paticularly was struck by the photograph of the window. It's keeping in tune with the general gothic feel to tale's atmosphere.Very nice shot.

All of your photos show an excellent aesthetic sensibility and I like your use of the close up. In fact, a lot of them look professionally done (with the exception of the stairway with Andrew, mostly because his face is a little fuzzy and out of focus).
I really like the lock picture -- it's just kind of an overdone image -- as prettyinpink indicates, all the locks seem unnecessary and overkill. But for this story, it works because USher is overwhelmed by his senses and all those locks indicate both overwhelming and fear (the other predominant trait of Usher). My other favorite is the scissors picture but I'm having trouble with a connection to the quotation. The image is fabulous but maybe you can enlighten me about the quotation. The reason I like this so much I think is because of the close up feel, the rust on the scissors. Again, appropriate for Usher because it gives us a close-up of something we don't normally pay attention to and Usher is tuned into all these sensory things the rest of us don't pick up on.
The white doors with the eye peering through looks like a still for a horror movie! The lighting is also very effective. The light and dark are very stylized and patterned (almost looks staged) which I like. Looks a little unnatural too in terms of lighting which increases the horror effect.
The eyes was a cool use of photo shopping and conveys the twinning theme. Also effectively uses a close up shot. Nice job.

I overall really like all your photos. I thought the picture of the candles was really nice that fit nicely with the quote itself, i liked how in that photo you had light coming in from multiple different angles. It was a nice touch. I also liked the picture of the dirty window. I was trying to figure out what window at HC that is? the fact it looks so old, and dirty, barely offering a reflection, or even image of inside fit the quote nicely. It indeed did portray a sense of gloom. Overall all the pictures were gloomy and creepy, which was the goal. I thought you did a very nice job and found pictures that matched quotes nicely.
