The effects used added a great deal to the overall presentation. For example, making the picture of the crack in the wall green creates a very creepy effect. Blurring the picture of the doorway makes a simple photograph appear extremely gloomy and striking. These effects depict and summarize Poe's attempts to create a scary and grotesque setting. The stone wall gives a literal interpretation of this environment, which is also enhanced by the darkening effect.
I like how most of your photos are of everyday things, such as the lock and the light, but when you edit the pictures the way that you did, it makes everything appear the way you want it too, which is sad and gloomy and scary. I also came up with a great idea while looking at your pictures. We could change that quotes and present the power point to the parents of 8th grades that are planning on coming to the school. It shows the uniquness of our school community.
I like the font for your title page -- very Poe. You've also photo-shopped to good effect. Your first photo of the lock reminds me of the photographic effects in Blair Witch Project (which I am not a fan of but it WAS creepy). Effectively communicates mood of quotation. The second photo looks like an infrared image almost. I believe this is a flourescent light fixture but it gives the impression of an underground passage of some sort so it fits with the quotation. #4 is an interesting cut and paste. The red is effective in conveying an image of tomb/death. For #5 I agree with Gillette and would add that the blurring creates an appropriate dream-like quality which fits in thematically with the story -- the house shrouded in a sort of symbolic mist along with Usher's mind and perceptions. He's fading away, having difficulty keeping his grasp on life and reality. #7 I think you need to include the part about the crack ("of which" the rest of the quotation is about). A literal representation except for the green coloring...why did you choose green? The only thing I can think of is the moss-covered walls but green is also a very symbolic color and you may have something else in mind. I like the black/white shading of the last photo. Paired with the crumbling masonry of the photo, it very effectively conveys the idea of sorrow and decay.
